Salads and raitas is a all time favourite at our place.My daughter is ready to skip the meal over salad...Whenever curd is added to any salad it makes a raita.It makes a great accompaniment with the meal.I prepare similar recipe with Pomegranate.Coming back to the recipe I had heard about green apple salad and other recipes of the same, but never ever had attempted.
Sometime back I saw my fb friend Mitha posting this dish and singing praise of this so much that I was super tempted to try this yummy raita.This recipe is from Asha mayi's recipe book 'The Konkan Saraswath book' .I had bought this book 2 years back after seeing review in Divya's blog even before I knew Asha mayi.Sometime later I bumped Asha mayi in a food group and the rest is history...So this is the first recipe from the book.Thanks a lot Mitha for inspiring me to try this yummy raita.
Recipe adapted from : Healthy cooking with mitha
Ingredients:
Green apple -1,chopped into small cubes
Curds -2 cups
Green chillies -2-3,chopped finely
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp,chopped finely
Raisins - 1 tbsp,soaked for 5-10 minutes (I have not added)
Salt - to taste
Sugar - 2 tsp
Ingredients for the seasoning:
Oil -1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves -1 sprig
Asafoetida - a pinch
Method:
- Mix all the ingredients mentioned under the 1st list.
- Heat oil,splutter mustard seeds,add curry leaves and hing.
- Season it to the raita.
