Special Pomfret Masala Fry

I adapted this recipe from Zee Kannada cookery show which was telecasted today.I had Pomfret in stock in  the freezer and I decided to prepare it for dinner tonight and stuck to my decision.This dish came out super duper good and I could not resist myself from posting the recipe.The aroma and flavour was simply fantastic.This recipe is a keeper.

Pomfret - 4,full(cleaned)
Salt - to taste

Ingredients for the masala:
Onions -2
Coriander leaves -1 cup
Mint leaves -1/2 cup
Ginger -1 /2 "
Garlic - 6-7
Chilly powder -2 tbsp
Garam masala powder -1 tsp
Coriander powder -1 tbsp
Roasted cumin powder -1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Vinegar -2 tsp
Lime -1,juice
Salt - to taste


  1. Clean the pomfret and make incisions.
  2. Apply salt to the fish and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Make a paste of all the ingredients mentioned under the masala list to a fine paste without adding water.
  4. Apply this paste to one pomfret at a time stuffing the masala in the incisions well.
  5. Marinate it for 30 minutes or more.
  6. Heat a tawa and add enough oil to shallow fry.
  7. Fry the fish one at time and cook it on both the sides.
  8. Serve it hot with green chutney.
